"Anti-Semitism" is a cop-out

Apr 23, 2010 16:49

How is standing up against oppression and inhuman actions being Anti-Semitic? It has nothing to do with that. It's just a cop out for people who don't want to have to face what Israel is doing to the Palestinian people, its use of racial profiling, checkpoints, expansion of settlements and more occupational policies that no one anywhere in the world should have to deal with.

I don't see anywhere that CAIR is supporting anti-Semitism. They are calling out for human rights and justice just like anyone else.

""political intimidation by the domestic Zionist and pro-Israeli lobbying groups should never prevent the U.S., a 'superpower,' from upholding the basic standards of international law and human rights."

-where is that offending Jewish people? Just because it's criticizing them and challenging oppression they are therefore being anti-Semitic? When African Americans challenged slavery in America was that being anti-white? When black South Africans challenged apartheid was that being anti-white? When women challenged the deprivation of their rights was that being anti-men?

CAIR has never said anything bad about Jewish people or simply been rude and unreasonable or offensive. Everything they are doing is being challenged by bias.

You say CAIR has consistently opposed the Israeli-Palestinian peace process and the normalization of relations between Israel and the Palestinians. No they have not. They are demanding for equality between both countries and fairness in the solution. They are not just going to settle for anything that blatantly favors the state of Israel as is the situation now. Do you call that fair that Palestinians have limited access to resources, education, safety and all the other necessities of life that Israelis do? Why would anyone be happy about that? You don't "settle" with people's lives.

It doesn't matter if its Sudan and Darfur, China and Tibet, Turkey and Armenia--any kind of persecution of a group of people is wrong! Israel clearly has the upper hand in this situation with its wealth and development. They even have their own nuclear weapons for heaven's sake. How on earth can they complain that they are being targeted and feel threatened, when they can hide behind their weapons and the claims of "Anti-Semitism."

There are so many Jewish individuals who have stood up and spoken out against Israel's apartheid policies. Muslims, Jews, Christians, athiests, people from all nationalities and walks of life, human rights organizations from Amnesty International, Human Rights Watch and the UN are all aware of what's going on.

And all you have to say to this is it's being anti-Semitic? That's just childish and ignorant. How are you not outraged at the violence that Israel is provoking and allowing to continue just so it can deny Palestinians their independence and freedom? If they want to secure their freedom forever then stop the problem! Stop the occupation that is the root cause of the resistance. If there is nothing to resist about, then there would be no need for a wall, guns and all of these oppressive policies.

There is nothing extreme about standing up against injustice and oppression. Muslims and CAIR do not believe Jewish people are all bad, just like we expect everyone to know all Muslims are not terrorists. But the world will not stand by and allow this conflict to continue like this.

As Martin Luther King Jr. said "Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere."

We need to stop avoding the reality of the situation and solve the conflict. Both sides have made mistakes, but Israel clearly has the power and ability to stop this once and for all if it.

I find your attempts to paint CAIR as a terrorist or bad organization pathetic. They most definetly live by their mission to stand up for civil rights and human rights. Everything they do and say is evidence of that.

I only question your conscience for not believing in human rights and perpetuating the conflict through smear campaigns such as this.
