US v. Aref, Yassin, et ano.
Albany, NY

Jaish-e-Mohammed

[NDNY] In October 2006, two Albany mosque leaders, Yassin Aref and Mohammad Hossain, were convicted of conspiracy to purchase a surface-to-air missile for use in a terrorist attack in New York City and money laundering. Both Aref and Hossain appealed their convictions but a federal court rejected the appeals in July 2008. Aref and Hossain were sentenced to 15 years each in prison on terrorism charges. In June 2019, Aref was deported to Iraq.
