[DMA] In 2005 the Islamic Society of Boston (ISB), which more recently became the Muslim American Society of Boston (MAS-Boston), filed a defamation lawsuit against several organizations and individuals, including the Executive Director of the Investigative Project on Terrorism, Steven Emerson, the David Project, the Boston Herald, and a local Fox News affiliate. The ISB was building a new Islamic center and defendants were raising questions about the ISB's connections to terrorist financing and hate speech. The lawsuit was dropped in 2007.
