USA v. Qamar, Haris
Burke, VA
Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL)
[EDVA] Haris Qamar of Burke, Virginia, was arrested this morning on charges of attempting to provide material support and resources to the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL). Qamar and an FBI confidential informant discussed a video that ISIL was supposedly making to encourage lone wolf attacks in the Washington, D.C., area. There was, however, no actual video being created but Qamar was unaware of the fact. Qamar pleaded guilty to attempting to provide material support to ISIL. Qamar was sentenced to 102 months in prison for attempting to provide material support to ISIL.
