In this recording from June 10, 2009, Daniel Patrick Boyd and his son Zakariya and defendant Hysen Sherifi and a government witness talk during a training session in Caswell County, N.C. FBI Agent Michael Sutton testified that they recovered the ballast referenced in the recording after the session ended and found two bullet holes in it. Witness: "What's that, a ballast?"
Boyd: "Yeah it's an old tore up ballast. Ain't no good. I want to hit it with an armor-piercing round."
Witness: "I want to see that. That's solid."
Boyd: "Should be."
Witness: "I didn't realize them things were that heavy."
Boyd: "We'll see what it can do to that. If it can do something mean to that then imagine what it can do in a vest."
