USA v. Hasanzadeh, Amin
Ann Arbor, MI

Iran

FBI agents secretly searched the Ann Arbor home of a University of Michigan scholar, Amin Hasanzadeh, after being accused of funneling tech secrets to a brother affiliated with Iran's missile and nuclear weapons industry. The criminal complaint charges Hasanzadeh with interstate transportation of stolen property and fraud and misuse of visas, permits, and other documents. It was alleged that in or about January 2015 and in or about June 2016 Hasanzadeh knowingly and willfully stole confidential documents and technical data for his employer and thereafter emailed those documents to multiple individuals including his brother Sina Hasanzadeh in Iran. It was also alleged that he concealed his military affiliation from US Customs and Immigration Services officials, and provided false statements on his citizenship application documents.
