Aws Mohammed Naser was charged with attempting to provide material support to ISIS, a designated foreign terrorist organization, and for being a felon in possession of a destructive device. The charges were set forth in an Indictment that was unsealed in November 2022. It is alleged that between 2011 and October 2017, Naser, formerly of Westland, Michigan, attempted to provide material support to ISIS in the form of personnel (including himself) and services, knowing that ISIS was a designated terrorist organization and that ISIS engages in terrorism. In addition, Naser is charged with being a felon in possession of a destructive device in October 2017. Naser faces up to twenty years in prison for attempting to support ISIS and up to fifteen years in prison for possessing the destructive device.
