[EDMI] Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab, a 23-year-old Nigerian national, was charged in a criminal indictment for his alleged role in the attempted Christmas day bombing of Northwest Airlines flight 253 from Amsterdam, the Netherlands, to Detroit. A superseding indictment added new charges against Abdulmutallab, including conspiracy to commit an act of terrorism transcending national boundaries and an additional count of possession of a destructive device in furtherance of a crime of violence.
