[SDNY] Ahmed Abassi, a Tunisian citizen, lied on his immigration documents for a green card and work visa in order to stay in the U.S. to facilitate an act of international terrorism. Abbasi, who previously resided in Canada, traveled to the U.S. in mid-March 2013, where he remained until his arrest. In conversations with a government informant, Abassi discussed his desire to engage in terrorist acts against targets in the U.S. and other countries as well as provide support to terrorist groups, including the al Nusrah Front (Al Qaeda in Iraq).
