Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL), aka Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS)
[WDNY] Mufid Elfgeeh was indicted on charges of attempting to provide material support and resources to the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL), aka the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS), a designated foreign terrorist organization. In addition, Elfgeeh was also charged with attempting to kill U.S. soldiers and possession of firearms and silencers. Elfgeeh pleaded guilty to providing material support and resources to ISIL. Elfgeeh was sentenced to over 22 years in prison for attempting to recruit fighters for ISIL.
