USA v. Al-Mughassil, Ahmed
Hizballah al-Hijaz (Saudi Hizballah)
[EDVA] Ahmed al-Mughassil is the accused mastermind of the June 1996 truck bombing that killed 19 American military personnel at the Khobar Towers barracks near Dhahran, Saudi Arabia. He is identified in an American federal indictment as a senior leader of an Iranian-backed militant group, Hizballah al-Hijaz (Saudi Hizballah). In August 2015, Mughassil was arrested in Beirut and handed over to Saudi authorities. He had reportedly been living in Beirut since the attack, under the protection of the Iran-backed terrorist group, Hizballah.
