That this conference will be held in a Hilton hotel, only a stone's throw from my original hometown, Lemont IL, is startling even for someone with my lifetime involvement with Middle Eastern Muslim cultures. I have known the people of various Muslim cultures for 5 decades, having been involved in education in Afghanistan, Iran, Lebanon and Saudi Arabia. I'm presently working closely with one Iranian American cultural organization and have seen these Islamic cultures at their best and worst.

The Hizbi-Tahrir group is just one of many Muslim organizations in America which typify the dark and very dangerous side of the religion. Their intent is the subversion from within of open, multi-ethnic and multi-religious societies and ultimate subjugation under Islamic, Sharia, law. Their mindless hatred of Jews, Americans, and non-Muslim, free peoples in general, is an essential part of their teaching and preaching. The common mantra shouted by such people in Arabic is Al-mut ila Amreeka, Shaytani atheem ( death to America, the Great Satan) or in Farsi, margh ba Amreekaw, Shaytani bazorg. They will be happy to shout this in public in Iran and the Middle East or in America and elsewhere if no outsider understands the words.

Shame on the Hilton Hotel chain and the Marriott chain for their readiness to accept such conferences. Shame on the American media for an absolute failure to inform the public of the nature and intent of such people organizing in our own backyards. Our blissful ignorance on this most dangerous problem of our time can be placed at the feet of our government and media who fear that any criticism of Muslim groups and individuals is simply bigotry.

The well-financed, jihadists and their supporters will ultimately win because they are ready to die for the cause of Allah and don't care if their struggle takes one or two more centuries. America and the West are like deer frozen in the headlights, victims of their own labyrinthine legal systems. The most blatant example of this is the recent release of militant, Muslim combatants trained in violent jihad in Afghanistan, caught in battle there, and now being offerred freedom and shelter in Bermuda at U.S. government expense. The message to the Hisbi-Tahrir and other such groups is that they have won. It is only a matter of time and money and they have plenty of both.
