Bad spinning. The leadership recognized by the Roman authorities to speak for Jewish people were totally corrupt and illegitimate Jews, as Jesus pointed out. Of course Jesus and all his followers at the time of his death were Jewish... Jews. So who are "the" Jews?

Would you say that "the Russians killed the Czar," or "the French killed Robespierre," "the Libiyans killed Qadaffi," "the Lebanese killed Danny Chamoun," the Americans killed Sharon Tate," or "the Jews killed Yitzhak Rabin? One might argue that the Americans killed Osama Bin Laden but he was fingered by a Pakastani wasn't he) so the Pakistanis killed Bin Laden. This common misinterpretation of the Bible text has probably caused more persecution, murder, and antisemitism than any other thing.

As Winston said, "This is the sort of English up with which I will not put." And this is the sort of logic whose dog will not hunt.
