When you ridicule their position that ISIS isn't really about Islam (even though ISIS says it is), it reminds me of the comebacks that Christians use when it is pointed out that they are also perpetrators of monstrosities in history (Crusades, Inquisition), which are not a lot unlike what we're seeing with Islam today. Christians will claim that those people weren't "really Christians". So, you can't have it both ways. If you're going to condemn Islam, you need to equally own up to past Christian atrocities. Perhaps an argument can be made that Islam is just about 500-600 years behind Christianity in the evolution of religion. Think about it, Islam basically started about 600 years after Christianity...
